Our Departments

Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Therapy

Head of department: Prim. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Astrid Chiari

We emphasize mainly on anaesthesia care for surgieries and painful interventions – beginning from childhood to adult and in the elderly. We apply modern anaesthesia techniques – like videolaryngoscopy or Xenon-anaesthesia -  and regional anaesthesia techniques if indicated. During a detailed conversation we take our time to optimally prepare our patients for anaesthesia.

Another main field of our department is perioperative Intensive Care with all procedures and techniques for organ monitoring and –support. Besides high level mecical-technical and nursing treatment, the human component in intensive care is our goal.

The third columm of our department is traditionally the medical and also invasive Pain Therapy. Since 1999, there is an Anaesthesiology inpatient department for pain patients. We have an excellent collaboration with our department of Neurology, Neurologic Rehabilitation and Acute Geriatry as well as with the department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
